NIK CA$$
/
Coming from the out spoken city of Berkeley CA, and living in the east bay city of West Pittsburg. I was able to get a lot of musical influence from my parents playing music in the house and being active club goers. I also got a lot of influence walking the streets of Berkeley, during the time of 924 Gilman street and the punk rock scene I was introduced into alternative music. In Junior high school Nirvana smashing pumpkins were on repeat in my disk man and around 1994 or 1995 I started listing to Rap music even though it was not allowed to be played in our home. The first hardcore rap tape i listen to was "Too short" had to been a tape someone left from one of my parent's parties. After being caught listing to the vulgar mentions and continuous cursing words, I knew i had to hear more. I asked for a speaker system to be put into my room from my grandfather so i can now listen to Wild 107 fm. Saturday nights were the best! I can listen to all the club music, and international dance music and image in my head what the clubs were like. By the time I hit 8th grade we had a project to make a music video in our video production class at River view middle school. I wanted the best sounding and coolest music video, so i chopped up 112's only you remix featuring Puff daddy, Ma$e and Bigge smalls. I won the video contest and was hooked on the careers of Ma$e and Bigge. This is when Colombia house would send a cd for a penny, so i ordered every hip hop or r&b hip album that was out. I now wanted to write and make songs, the first song i was able to rap word for word was "tonight the night" by Kris Kross. Fast forwarding to high school in Berkeley I was exposed to more Art and design than any point in my life, fashion and style were at the forefront at Berkeley high, they used to call it the "Fashion show" I still had a love for music and writing. Iearning how to write poetry, and being involved in poetry slam led to rapping on the top floor of the C Building Attik. After high school I attended DVC Diablo Vally collage and studied Midi and protools, including logic pro, from there I was able to rap with some friends from Pittsburg. The first records i recorded was with Cool Cheez in North Oakland CA, and was able to do my first show in 2002. After that show re linked up with some close friends from high school that already had a group called the "Ghetto Reserve" We made some Local hitts and got our bio in "On the Grill" Which is basically an older version of "Thizzler on the roof" what Bay area music fan are used to today. Our Bio
"From being a label starting from nothing to becoming something the Ghetto Reserve Network was founded in 2003 by Hostyle (Chief Executive Officer); he shares some of the main songwriting duties that are spread out through the
recording label. Headlining in the trenches lays two more controversial rappers Nick Cassanova and Rossi Mac who are raising the bar for Bay Area
lyricist. With such a universal sound in such small areas as Oakland and Berkeley, now known for the Hyphy movement. Or bringing it back to the
original bay area hardcore rap sound displaying street Legends like rappers Seagram, 3xCrazy, Rappin Ron and Too Short to name a few, Ghetto Reserve is maintaining one of the top images through independent labels. Standing
behind the boards of the production line is co-founder and (Chief Operations Officer/Executive VP of Networking) Ssan Chop, he also serves as the main producer for the Ghetto Reserve. Slated to release their much anticipated
debut album (G.D.I.C) Ghetto Deposit Insurance Corporation in Fall 2006 they are ready to blaze the streets. When asked what singles were the favorites
to watch out for and they stated watch out for "This Go", a song that brings a great introduction to mainstream hyphyness. Also "Can't Stand Me" brings an upbeat bounce to their music. Not afraid to speak what's real on the turf
touching on topics through politics all the way to having fun"
After this it went dark....life hit. I moved out the bay. I moved with my parents in Sac after living with "Status aka Hostyle" in our studio on 64th and San Pablo. after 10 years... yes 10 years and becoming a Father. I was able to get back into the music by starting my own lable along side long time partner Status aka Hostyle "Moreilla music group" and managing a local act out Sacramento, "Jkent & AJ Wesley" after giving away my creative thought and recommendations I was reinspired to create and be back in the lime light of the music industry. My creative Juice was moving again, and after the managing stint I was ready to become the artist i always knew i could be. "NIK CA$$ANOVA" I linked up with another artist "lil Fiji" and built a new studio with him started to record again. The first single we recorded was "I'm up" with other fellow Artist Z-Vuittion dropping on 3/25/22.
